Spring is starting to show itself more and more. I take a deep breath of salty sea air while walking along my beloved beach and here we go - a vision of my new doll is born. It’s going to be a girl with endless tenderness in her eyes, cheeks blushed by the early spring wind, a thoughtful glance hence a habit of constantly biting her bottom lip. Light brownish hair covers her little cute face. That is my newly born Mabel.
One day I saw a beautiful bouquet of blush pink ranunculus and that became a theme for Mabel’s outfit. A blouse made out of light as a wind cotton batiste fabric, a cotton lace collar, puffy sleeves. This pinafore dress was made from natural peach powder colour linen. I really wanted this outfit to be dominated by light subtle tones so I made the shoes from a thin dusty blue coloured leather and matched a pair of long socks to them. Although it feels like spring looking out the window, the evenings a still a bit chilly here, especially when you go closer to the sea, so Mabel got a wooden light beige cardigan too.
So, is that it? Definitely not! A mouse toy which is carried by Mabel everywhere also got dressed up for the spring season - a baby tutu skirt and cute little flowers by her ears suit it perfectly!
My dreamy Mabel has natural mohair hair which I braided and tied in the back. It needs to be handled gently. She is around 45 cm (17,7''). Mabel is a free standing doll, proportions resembles a child of 6 years old. I use wool, cotton, natural mohair and other materials aiding in holding shape and allowing to create expressions and posing. Her limbs and torso are with armature, so it can bend. She can tilt her head up and down, also move it to the sides. Her legs can bend on the knees, she can sit nicely. Her fingers can hold little precious things. Her outfit is made by me and included. If you buy Mabel and want additional outfits to order- please contact me by social media or email.
